Mix: Combine the rum, simple syrup, mint and lime in a cocktail shaker or mason jar. Gently muddle the mint to release it’s flavors (you don’t need to muddle it into a million pieces though) and add ice. Cover and shake to combine.

How to Make Simple syrup: combine equal parts water and sugar in a small saucepan. Bring to boil and let simmer until sugar dissolves, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool completely.
