Our Philosophy

Our goal is to provide an alternative approach to food. An approach that relies on simple, seasonal and sustainable recipes and a slower, low-waste approach to life. Plant-based Low-Waste.

As a dietitian, I truly believe that food is medicine. The foods we choose to eat have an immense impact on our lives as well as the planet.

Though we're far from perfect, in The Crooked Carrot household, we strive to eat seasonally, mostly plant-based and delicious meals!

We also work to reduce our waste and do our part to take care of the one planet we call home. We do this by:

Connection

Connecting with the world around us: exploring nature, traveling and learning about other cultures in an eco-friendly way.

Food

Choosing real, whole foods: responsibly grown, in season, that nourishes both your body and the planet.

Slow Living

Practicing mindfulness, avoiding harmful products and practicing self-care so we can help others - after all, you can’t pour from an empty cup.

Reducing waste

Using reusable products, reducing consumption, implementing simple practices to reduce our overall waste, especially food.

We aren’t here just to share recipes, but to inspire and encourage you to start making changes to cultivate a slow and sustainable approach to food and life.

The Crooked Carrot sits on the traditional lands of the Diné Bikéyah (Navajo), Núu-agha-tʉvʉ-pʉ̱ (Ute), and Pueblos people, both past and present, now called Durango, Colorado. I acknowledge the wounds of the past in hopes of being able to heal for a better tomorrow.
