Winter Cranberry Spritz

Winter Cranberry Spritz - a 3-ingredient fizzy spritz recipe featuring rosemary simple syrup, soda water and cranberry juice. Made with or without alcohol, this bubbly beverage makes for a great non-alcoholic drink!

A spritz (or spritzer) is any beverage made with sparkling, mineral or carbonated water. Spritzers are usually made with wine (wine spritzer), but today I decided to forgo the wine and create this non-alcoholic beverage that’s a refreshingly tart, sweet and fizzy drink for these chilly winter days. 

This 3-ingredient mocktail comes together in less than 5 minutes (a little more if you need to make the rosemary simple syrup) and can easily be made into cocktail by adding your favorite liquor.

An added bonus of this mocktail is the nutrient benefits of cranberry juice. Cranberries contain lots of antioxidants and micronutrients such as vitamins C and E. Cranberry juice is shown to be beneficial for heart health and may reduce risk of urinary tract infections. 

I love having non-alcoholic beverage options for those days/nights when I want to drink something fun without the alcohol and this is one of my favorites. 

🧾 Ingredients

Rosemary simple syrup - this is simply rosemary-infused simple syrup. You can find the recipe HERE. You could also use regular simple syrup, but I would highly recommend adding the rosemary if at all possible.

Cranberry juice - Look for Cranberry juice without any added sugar or other juices. I like to go with 100% cranberry juice or make your own by cooking down fresh cranberries with a bit of water. 

Soda water - this is just carbonated water, different than tonic. Tonic is sweetened and will make your mocktail overly sweet. Look for carbonated water or soda water.

Rosemary sprigs - technically not needed for the cranberry mocktail, but definitely necessary for the rosemary simple syrup and they add such fun color to this drink.

🍸 How to make this winter mocktail

1 - Prepare Rosemary Simple Syrup - just simple syrup infused with rosemary. 

2 - Fill a serving glass with ice, stir in rosemary simple syrup and cranberry juice. Top with soda water, garnish with a sprig of rosemary and enjoy!

💭 Tips, Tricks and Tools

Tools: This cranberry spritzer requires just a serving glass and something to stir with!

Soda water vs seltzer water vs sparkling water: These water-based beverages are all very similar, but differ in the means of carbonation. Sparkling water is naturally carbonated from a spring or well. While soda water (aka club soda) is artificially carbonated and often has added minerals. Also artificially carbonated, seltzer water doesn’t usually contain added minerals. You can use any of these carbonated water options in this Winter Cranberry Spritz.

Though, tonic water is also carbonated water, it has added sugar and quinine. I don’t recommend using tonic water in this drink because it will be too sweet. 

Make it a cocktail: While this spritzer recipe is non-alcoholic, it would be easy to make this drink a cocktail by adding your favorite spirit. Add a 1-ounce pour of vodka, tequila, gin, or bourbon to spike your spritzer.

🍒 Nutrition

Cranberries are a highly nutritious fruit providing vitamin C and many different antioxidants. Cranberries may also help prevent urinary tract infections.

This winter spritz recipe is low in calories, low in added sugar, and is a great alternative to plain water and artificially flavored drinks.

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces rosemary simple syrup
  • 8 ounces cranberry juice unsweetened
  • soda water or other carbonated water
  • ice
  • rosemary sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a serving glass with ice. Stir in rosemary simple syrup and cranberry juice. Top with soda water or sparkling water, garnish with a sprig of rosemary and enjoy!

Notes

LEFTOVERS/STORAGE: Because sparkling water loses its effervescence quickly, I don’t recommend mixing this drink in advance. Though you can prepare the rosemary simple syrup ahead of time and store it in the fridge for up to one month. 
NUTRITION NOTES: This winter spritz recipe is low in calories, low in added sugar, and is a great alternative to plain water and artificially flavored drinks. The nutrition information does not include alcohol.
